Honda Odyssey is a minivan that falls into Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MVP) category. The Vehicle was introduced in 1994 by Honda Motor Co. Ltd. Since then, Honda Odyssey has been among North America’s top 3 selling minivans and is now marketing its 5 generation vehicles. One of the most important things about this category of vehicles is its cargo space, and this article is on the Honda Odyssey cargo space.

When the third row of seats is folded, a cargo space of 88.8 cubic feet can be obtained for LX trim, 89.2 cubic feet for EX, and 86.6 cubic feet for other models. When the second and third rows are folded, the cargo space increases to 144.9 cubic feet for the LX and EX trims and 140.7 cubic feet for other models.

How does the Honda Odyssey Compare to Other Minivans in Terms of Cargo Space?        

Compared with the other popular minivans Honda Odyssey is not the minivan with the largest cargo space in the market. But the LX and EX models are only 0.2 cubic feet below the minivan with the largest cargo space.

Honda Odyssey Cargo Space without Seats         

Honda Odyssey gives a larger cargo space without the second and third-row seats. Roughly it will be 8 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 4 feet (36 inches) high cubical space. This adds up to 128 cubic feet. Due to the Vehicle’s shape, this increases to 144.9 cubic feet for Honda Odyssey LX and EX models and 140.7 cubic feet for other models. This decreases the no of passengers from 8 or 7 to 2. Transportation of cargo is not a primary concern as minivans are usually bought to transport people as they are safe and comfortable.

Honda Odyssey Cargo Space Behind Third Row   

When all three seat rows are up, the cargo space drops to 32.8 Cubic feet for all Honda Odyssey models, including LX & EX models. Though it is a small space compared to the room without the second and third seat rows, it is a considerable space if the cargo is organized properly. As explained in earlier chapters, there are special accessories to increase cargo space. Fork mount/frame mount on the roof can carry a lot of cargo and even add a new look to the Vehicle. A deep cargo tray or a folding cargo tray can organize the goods so that it will reduce the space required and protect the interior of the Vehicle.

Are There any Storage Compartments Apart from the Main Cargo Area in the Honda Odyssey?  

There are some storage compartments apart from the main storage area to store cargo. They are useful but small compartments where some small items can be kept. Mainly the glove compartment and additional cases below the center console and between the front seats.

There are some compartments on the doors and even behind the headquarters for the second and third-row passengers. There is a large in-floor storage compartment to store less than 22 lbs between the front and second-row bucket seats.

Can you Fit a King-size Mattress in a Honda Odyssey?     

The size of a king-size mattress is 76 inches X 80 inches which is 6.33 feet X 6.66 feet. A California king-size mattress is 72 inches X 84 inches (6 X 7 feet). The cargo space size of the Honda Odyssey is 8 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 4 feet (36 inches) high cubical space.

The king-size mattresses can only be put inside the Odyssey by folding them. If the bed is a foldable one and after folding if it is no more than 46 on the folded side, it will fit into the Odyssey cargo area.

Is the Honda Odyssey 7 or 8-seater?      

The default seat configuration for Honda Odyssey since 2018 is 8 seats. The 8-seat Odyssey has a bench seat in the second row, and the 7-seater has 2 captain’s chairs in the second row. Honda Odyssey LX trim, EX, and EX-L come with 7 seats, and the other models have 8 seats. 8 seat Odyssey has more legroom and headroom than the 7-seat Odyssey.
